Luxury at Sri Lanka Waterfront Resort!
Luxury at Waterfront Resort
Envisioned to be the epicentre of modern South Asia, Sri Lanka’s eagerly anticipated Waterfront Resort, ‘Cinnamon Life’, boasts a lavish integrated mixed use development that sprawls over 4.5 million square feet. Situated at the heart of Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo, the high profile resort includes a five star 800 bedroom luxury hotel, high-end apartments, contemporary retail and leisure outlets and dedicated office buildings, which will transform the waterfront into a new centre of commerce, culture and tourism.
As part of the project’s commitment to specifying building products that deliver the highest standards of safety, performance and aesthetics, main contractor, Hyundai Engineering and Construction, commissioned Profab Access to design and supply over 1,700 riser doors. Prior to contacting Profab Access, Hyundai Engineering and Construction failed to find a manufacturer that could meet the development’s stringent EI60 specification, which requires certified integrity and insulation performance for 60 minutes.
Manufactured to this exacting standard, Profab Access’ EI60 rated INTEGRA 4000 Series Riser Doors were manufactured for installation throughout the resort’s six buildings in a range of configurations, including single, double and triple doorsets, to meet each structure’s specific requirements. Randunu Chandrasekara, Quantity Surveyor at Hyundai Engineering and Construction, said: “Given the prestigious and high profile nature of this development, it was paramount that we partnered with a manufacturer that could maintain our stringent standards for fire safety, whilst secondly supporting the overall interior design scheme of each building.
“The specification of Profab Access’ EI60 INTEGRA 4000 Series has enabled us to create a consistent, high quality visual appeal across the entire resort, whilst simultaneously achieving the highest standards of compliance, certification and performance.”
Throughout the construction process, a key requirement was the installation of the riser doors with shadow gap detailing, which further enhances aesthetics by making the riser door appear to float in place. However, this specification required additional testing to evidence the EI60 certification was maintained. To achieve this, Profab Access worked in partnership with its independent fire testing partner, Warrington Fire, to prove the aesthetic detailing did not compromise the overall performance of the riser door, ensuring its 60 minute integrity and insulation rating.
